We all have faced situations when we wanted to be first to login on IRCTC website to get tatkal ticket or even normal ticket. Or first to put our hand in window exactly at 8 AM on the day train booking opened. But only to realise that all the seats got booked exactly in 25 sec or may be even less. At the same time every now and then we hear that there is nexus between touts and the booking clerks. We also hear that there are computer programs which login exactly at 8 AM and book all the tickets. Railways had been increasing the capacity of its IT infrastructure but all of it chokes at 8 AM every morning. Railways also raids and book touts once in a while but the problem remains as it is. What is the solution to it? I offer a very simple but effective solution. Open the bookings 1-2 days in advance but keep all of them in waiting till 8 AM of the booking day. The new academic session is going to start soon. It is delayed due to Covid-19 but when it starts there will be mad rush for books. There is always a problem faced by CBSE students to get NCERT books in time. The problem can be easily solved in single stroke. Allow any publisher to print it without any restriction and sell it at a cost he deems fit . Though the books are already available online but when it comes to printing it can be printed and sold only by NCERT. Though , theoretically, students can download and print it for self use but still it is not a substitute for a printed book. I wonder why should NCERT be bothered about who prints it !!! When India did not have enough printers it made sense to have a government owned printing but now it does not makes sense. Rather it must be taking away lot of precious time, money and energy of NCERT in printing these books themselves.
